The Ten Commandments: Are They Still Binding Today?

ten commandmentsThere is so much discussion today over the Ten Commandments.  You hear and read about them almost everywhere it seems.   The moral fabric of our great nation has become so deteriorated, everyone NOW wants to go back to GOD and HIS law!  I say praise the Lord, for if it is high time, in fact the truth is, if we had only been keeping HIS Law from the beginning, we wouldn't be in this mess in the first place!

My only concern is that James 2:10 says, "For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of them all!" In other words you must keep all ten or you are breaking all ten!   Seems simple enough to me.  A no-brainer you might say, right?

Yet most of mainstream "Christianity" today worships on the first day of the week, Sunday, a day which cannot be supported with one shred of evidence from the WORD OF GOD!   Contrary to the fourth commandment which states clearly the seventh-day is the Sabbath!   If you go back to the creation story, at the end of HIS work the Bible teaches in Gen 2:1-3 that GOD blessed and sanctified the seventh-day Sabbath. (Notice there was no sin as of yet, nor any Jew(s)!)

Now call me foolish, but if GOD blesses and sanctifies something, who am I to think I or anyone can change what GOD has blessed? (1Chronicles 17:27)  You see when God blesses HE blesses forever!!!   Also I am convinced that HE is GOD and HE does not change! (Why should HE, HE does it right the first time, every time!)  In fact the fourth commandment is the only commandment which proves HE is GOD!  You take out that one and how do you prove HE is GOD?   You see HE is GOD, because HE created ALL things, and the seventh-day sabbath is HIS memorial of HIS creative powers! (Exodus 20:8-11)

So while we are spending all this time fighting to have them displayed all over the internet and in our schools and courthouses, why don't we spend some time asking GOD to place them in our hearts, so that we might not sin against HIM!  I do agree, it's time to go back to GOD and HIS law, but it would foolish to bring them back only to keep nine of them!   If your Bible teaches something different, please share it with me, so I can read it for myself!  I want to do GOD'S will and "HIS WILL" can only be found in "HIS WORD" !

Finally in closing, a Christian is one who does what JESUS did.  Go and read Luke 4:16 and find out which day JESUS went to church when HE was here on this earth.   Then go, deny yourself, take up HIS cross and follow HIM!  If we love HIM, we would keep HIS commandments! (John 14:15)  All ten of them, for nine and a half just won't do!
